St. Mary’s Church. Bathurst St & Adelaide St W, Toronto
St. Mary’s Church is located at the Bathurst Street of Portugal Square towards the western end of Toronto. It was designed back in 1852 by the Irish immigrants. This is considered as a Gothic Revival Church as well. Joseph Connolly was the person who designed this church. The construction activities ended during 1889. However, the construction of tower finished only in 1905. It is one of the most fascinating scenes that you will be able to find in the Adelaide Street as well.
St. Mary’s Church has received much attention for its fascinating architecture. Joseph Connolly created the basilica plan of the church. He incorporated the architectural trends that existed during the period when creating the design of St. Mary’s Church. As a result, you will be able to see the tower positioned at the center of the main façade. On the other hand, the side windows and portraits are enclosed in one of the large arches.
In the main façade, you will be able to see a central section at the base. This is paired with a rose window. You will also be able to find recessed roundels that are located centering the window. Lower and smaller versions of the design frame the middle section in a symmetric manner. Just under the central rose window, you will be able to see the blind arcade. In addition, the main doorway can be found with a gable on both sides.
The Fashion District of Toronto can be considered as the intersection of Spadina Avenue and Queen Street. It was the leading center for the textile industry of Toronto. However, the things have changed significantly along with time and people are shifting towards cheaper alternatives. The open air Eaton Center offers chain clothing stores, which have become extremely popular among tourists. It is possible for you to shop for your trendiest fashion needs in here. The Gap and Roots are some of the leading chain clothing stores that you will be able to find in here. In addition to the clothing stores, you will be able to find a large number of restaurants scattered across the area as well.
I was able to capture this photo from the 13th floor of 650 King St West. A location I stayed in for a month while visiting Toronto. The neighborhood is fantastic and offers picturesque views of the city. 650 King St West is near the Fashion District. As a result, the best of Fashion District can be enjoyed from 650 King St West.
The Fashion District can be considered as one of the most popular destinations that can be found in downtown Toronto. The stretch has gone through significant revitalization throughout the past, especially due to the popularity of it among tourists. Plenty of options is available for the guests to shop for their fashion needs as well.
