A historical enclave of rowhouses located at St. Nicholas Ave and Jumel Terrace between the streets of 160th and 162nd St in the Washington Heights area of Manhattan, is a pretty unique location amongst the apartment buildings and skyscrapers…
I usually enter the cobblestone road from the east side of the block by walking up the steps from St. Nicholas Ave. Once at the top of the steps, it’s like being transported back in time while viewing the antique rowhouses and Morris-Jumel Mansion (Manhattan’s oldest house) at the end of the block. Sylvan Terrace is a pretty rare find in New York City, well worth the trip for a photo.
