On a recent weekend trip to Ikea in Red Hook, Brooklyn. I made sure to bring my DSLR camera to take some photos after shopping. IKEA has a pretty cool setup ever since it opened up in Brooklyn… a couple of years ago, you can take a complimentary shuttle from downtown Brooklyn or the Water Taxi that takes you back and forth between Manhattan & Brooklyn.
The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) has a special program taking place this summer called Destination Red Hook. People wanting to visit IKEA or Red Hook can ride for free on the weekends from 10:00am – 9:00pm during the dates of 5-25-2013 to 9-02-2013 to explore this NYC neighborhood. For detail information on the Ferry service click here.
Destination Red Hook is a perfect opportunity for photographer to take pictures of some of the below locations:
- Red Hook, Brooklyn towards Lower Manhattan
- Gowanus Bay
- The different piers along Brooklyn shoreline
- Governors Island
- Lower Manhattan Wall St area
- Brooklyn & Manhattan Bridges
- Red Hook Container Terminal
Special tip: Once you are done with the above photo ops and back in Manhattan at Pier 11, Slip A; you can continue to grab great photos at some of the below locations:
- East River Bikeway
- Wall St Area
- Take the free Staten Island Ferry
- Take the Ferry to Governors Island
- Battery Park
The list can go on and on, but those are some of the locations I would visit to make it a full day photographic memories.
